Springtime in Texas

Last March I traveled to Texas to photograph the beautiful wedding of my ex-roommate Blaine and friend Laura.  I brought my holga and made a few personal photos - including some from a historic cemetery I visited on a curvy side road on the way to San Antonio.  I rented a car and leisurely took in the sites on my way back to the airport.  Cannot wait to get back and explore more of the beautiful state!

Cat Revisited

Cat has been a willing model several times for me and I am so grateful for her support and encouragement.  These images are from a shoot we did earlier this year and yet again, the quality of film inspires me.

Winter Wonderland

Here's to another winter of not letting the gray, dark, and short days keep us from our outdoor adventures!  And a special thanks to some of my best/favorite models - I'll keep taking pictures as long as you (Brodie, Molly, Nate, Harlan) keep letting me.

Cuba Otra Vez

Again - I was so thrilled to find another roll of film from Cuba when I visited two summers ago.  Looking through these photos brought me back to that fabulous time I spent in the heat of Havana.  We also traveled a little through the countryside and one day came upon a swarm of crabs that had crawled miles from the ocean and crossed the highway into the hills.  We pulled over and marveled at the oddity and happily a few of my holga photos worked out.

I look forward to visiting the magical country again.

Sunriver Part Deux

Recently I took in 6 rolls of film for developing with no real idea of what was on the rolls (working on organizational skills…always).  I was so happy to find the photos from my fall trip to Sunriver with Brodie for his birthday.

Before we left for the trip, I day dreamed of carrying my clunky medium format Mamiya all over beautiful and rugged central Oregon (including hiking my camera up snowy south sister, and climbing steep and unsteady hills of volcanic rock)…though I opted not to include my camera on those adventures - I feel certain I can do it…next time.  But I did take the camera around in our heated car and happily jumped out to take photos and then jumped back in!

This was the first time I used the camera and did not have a light meter so I just winged it and I am so happy that the images appeared.  Not only that, but I love these photos!  Clearly operating the camera will take some getting used to.

Sunriver, OR

A couple weekends ago I went to Sunriver, OR with Brodie and was given a personal tour of his childhood haunts.  Aside from being a great guide, he was willing to be a model and endured a bit of time in the chilly Deschutes River (it didn't take much convincing).  Thank you Brodie for a fabulous weekend!

Drift Trikes and Skate Boards!

Harlan Whitman/knife-maker/zoo bomber/puppet-builder invited me to photograph him and his friends testing his latest creation with S.I.N. Cycles - two drift trikes.  We headed to the North Portland Pier Park skate park and let it rip!  A few of Harlan's colleagues joined us and skated the park before heading to work.  Turns out the tricycles are a little more work than they look, but hell - feeling like a kid again is all worth it!
