Yay Oregon! A Step in the Right Direction

Two days ago a Federal judge in Eugene, OR ruled that the 2004 ban on same sex marriage was not legal and overturned it.  My business partner Erin and I volunteered to cover the event for the ACLU of Oregon.  We started at the county courthouse where couples stood in line to receive their marriage licenses.  When the decision was announced the crowd erupted!  The court house doors opened and couples streamed in to get their license.

Many couples walked to the Melody Ballroom afterward where Ministers were waiting to marry them in simple yet profound ceremonies.  At moments I put the camera down so I could take in the overwhelming feeling of joy. It was such an honor to be a part of this historic moment and I'm so grateful to the people who have fought so hard to make this happen.  Congratulations Oregon - we're one step closer to equality.

Dreams of New Orleans

Six years ago I flew from NY, my good friend Robin flew from Portland and we met in the beautiful, lively, weird, and somewhat sad city of New Orleans.  Robin went to Tulane and knew the city well, so I was in good hands.  We had no agenda - which proved to be the best way to take it all in.  In the end we shared some amazing memories there - some of them we could never have predicted.

Idaho - 2007

I recently found some interesting photos I made many years ago in Sun Valley, Idaho on a trip where I worked closely with my friends and colleagues to print photos for a large annual event.  We worked loooong hours and were exhausted by the end of the day, but since we'd traveled all the way from NY - we went out and took advantage of the landscape and made some really fun photographs.
I don't think back on the job and remember it fondly, but I do remember spending many hours with my good friends Aria and Betsy (and Vanessa on the phone) and will always hold that trip - and those women close to my heart.  Thank you ladies for making the hard times bearable and good times...phenomenal! xo
